New ADT PCIe 4.0 Riser Cable

Previously I ran a test on earlier version of ADT PCIe 4.0 riser Cable (Ver 1.1) I turned out that this riser cable wasn't compatible with MSI B550i Gaming board at 4.0 speed and only work at 3.0 speed. But it work flawlessly when I tested on ASUS Strix z690 board. This could be board independent issue.

There're 3 groups of flat cables in previous version made by 3M, it's the same cable that bundle with DAN A4 case. In the above photo is straight ends cable, 25cm in lengh.

The new version of cable comes in 2 colors, black and silver. They compose of 6 flat cables. The cable itself is hard compare with the old one. You'll need to apply extra force to bend it. In the above photo is dual reverse cable with 18.5 cm in length.

At this length it will fit in Gecko AIR ATX or Gecko V perfectly, no pushing against the back of GPU.

ADT riser on Gecko M

If you're using Gecko S, M or L. I would recommend to use dual reverse cable with 21cm in length. There will be some cable slag when you pull it out from the main board. The riser cable can be bended but can't be pulled hard. It will damage the connector. The riser bundle with Form D T1 case for example is too short, pulling it out of the socket very often can damage riser cable.

Placing GPU in vertical position is a good thing. Hot air can exhaust for the card from the bottom and from the top, comparing with horizontal placement, the hot air can only escape from the top. From my testing in open bench, vertical GPU gives at least 5C lower temperature.

I do test the PCIe Bandwidth in 3D Mark with 6900XT + 12900K. The result is shown below.

It's obviously that there's no speed different between direct connection to the main board and thorough riser cable. Both version of ADT riser cable perform perfectly. I've been testing with both cables in the past 2 weeks without any problem.

Most important the newer version of ADT cable is only half the price of the older one. Now you can bundle PCIe 4.0 cable with Gecko case at the cost of 1200 THB and 850 THB for PCIe 3.0
